Description
Wallaby Weave was formerly called Billabong Weave (It was too easily confused with another pattern, Billabong Creek.)
Great for modern quilts! 11″ x 144″ I love finding ideas in the folk art of cultures around the world. This stylized design is reminiscent of the aboriginal designs of Australia. The Billabong (you may recognized it from the song “Waltzing Matilda”) is a water hole left by a receding river.
The strong vertical and horizontal stripes surrounding the round Billabong, create a woven look across the surface of the quilt. Let’s imagine a Wallaby coming to drink at the watering hole. You might even insert one from DownUnder Blocks.
You may want to pair this pattern with some of our other Australian themed patterns: DownUnder 11″ or 6″, DownUnder Blocks, Billabong Creek, Didgeridoo and Kangaroo border.
