Description
This beautiful pattern is reminiscent of the Intricate Javanese batiks. It makes a handsome overall design for any quilt. I’ve shown it on the back of a Thai (rescued skirt) quilt. It’s the larger flower.
You might pair it with the new Java Batik Borders. One of these borders is the smaller flower on the quilt. Watch for some blocks on the same theme.
Tonight a friend of mine from Indonesia came over and I showed her my new pattern. “Oh, the name of this flower in Java is Kembang Kenanga,” she exclaimed. How fun to know the real name and that it was recognizable! (It translates to Kenanga Flower. In Bali it is called Padma. Yes, all you Star Wars Fans – Padma was not a new name.)

Amazing batique.
